BloomingHR is delighted to call for expressions of interest for experienced Directors and Board members for a Tier 3 registered community housing provider.Address Housing was established in 2015 to provide specialist housing support to women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence.  The company is a public company limited by guarantee, registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission and with the NSW Registrar of Community Housing under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing.Currently Address Housing has a small portfolio of approximately 100 properties located in western Sydney and the Hunter.  They wish to grow their portfolio through partnerships with other CHP's, the Government and specialist agencies and providers. Since Address Housing was established, there has been a complex process of reform in NSW affecting many services for women and children affected by domestic violence.  Partly as a result, Address Housing has completed a major review of its governance and operations and is working with both Family and Community Services and the Registrar of Community Housing in NSW to address a number of identified issues.Board Composition and RequirementsPartly due to the governance reform, Address is looking for additional Directors to build an independent skills based Board.They are seeking Directors, with Board experience, who can contribute expertise in:financial and risk management;contract negotiations and contract management;business development; governance and compliance, especially in relation to social and affordable housing; andsocial policy.Applicants with skills in other areas such as marketing and comms, philanthropy and asset management are also encouraged to apply. A comprehensive skills assessment process is planned to ensure that the new Board will form an effective team, with complementary skills and abilities.The Board meets 8 -10 times per year (generally after business hours in Sydney CBD), and 1-2 times a year on a weekend for strategy and planning purposes   The size of the organisation means that the organisation would benefit from Directors who are able to provide some operational advice and expertise if required.A payment structure is currently being considered by Address and will be discussed at interview.We are looking for people who offer:Support and commitment to the Company’s purpose and visionExperience and or knowledge as a Director within a regulatory environment, public company and a charityRelevant experience and qualifications in one or more of the following areas: risk, legal, finance, asset management, governance, government relations, marketing and communication, philanthropy, social or affordable housing, providing services for women and families who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing domestic and family violence.Willingness to commit your time, expertise and experience to progress the company’s objectives.The Constitution provides that “To the extent permitted by law, and unless otherwise determined by the Board from time to time, all Directors must be female.”  The current Board is committed to recruiting Directors to meet the needs of the organisation and ensure a broad and effective combination of skills on the Board, regardless of gender.
